Cold and Frosty Aviemore - Perfect for Deep Impact

The annual conference for Christian Youth and Children's workers, Deep Impact, has recently taken place at the Macdonald Hotel resort in Aviemore. Over 320 delegates gathered from all over Scotland and the UK to meet together, worship Jesus together and to be equipped for God's ongoing Kingdom work alongside children and young people. 18 delegates attended from Argyll with Hope 2 Oban sending 7 folks who benefited from teaching spaces, thinking spaces, challenging spaces and relaxing spaces. Deep Impact attendees were also uplifted and challenged by the teaching of Matt Summerfield of Urban Saints,  whose sessions did indeed have a deep impact. Around 30 seminars were available during the conference, with folks encouraged to take a 'Sabbath' time of relaxation on the Saturday afternoon. Saturday night included the fun time that is known as 'Zoo', a slightly different slant on  the talent show, as well as some ad hoc sledging opportunities being grabbed by some brave adventurers.
As ever, a splendid time was had by all involved and already the chat is, 'can't wait until next year'!

H2O Family Gathering at Ardeonaig 2015

Isn't it good to get away together? To take time out and ponder where we've been, where we are and where we think we might be going? That's the purpose of the Hope 2 Oban annual retreat at Ardeonaig by Loch Tay.
This year was a particularly good opportunity to reflect on the past decade of H2O work in the Oban area and to do that with John MacKinnon, a close friend from East Kilbride who was very involved in the setting up of the  youth work initiative that became Hope to Oban.
Our gathering was extended this year to include folks from Dunoon and Kinross & Milnathort and good inter-project chats were had interspersed with cake and hot drinks.
A big thank you goes to all involved and particularly to the members of the board who organised the event.
