Christmas with Xplore

It certainly is the party season. Chicken dinner, party games, dancing and yes, you guessed, another 'not-so-secret Santa'! That was the Xplore Christmas party held recently at The Well.
As the school term draws to a close, it's time to think Christmas, and the Xplorers certainly did that.
Here's to a Christ-filled Christmas to all and a happy holiday when it comes.

A Christmas of Praise with Hope 2 Oban

H2O continued the lead up to Christmas time with Christmas Praise at Oban High School on Sunday 15th December. A packed and eclectic programme of the celebration of Christmas was shared with folks from the churches of Oban and the surrounding area.
The praise band lead carols, OHS Trad band played Christmas melodies, Connel choir performed several festive pieces and the lovely Levisa sang Breath of Heaven and Mary Did You Know. Thanks to all.
A big thank you also Clergy Nicky McNelly and James MacNeil for their message and prayers.
Happy Festive season to all from Hope 2 Oban.

DeKanWiz and the not-so-secret Santa

Yes, ladies and gents, it is that time of year when all things Christmassy take place, and DeKanWiz are no exception. The troops struggled out recently to a delicious Christmas meal together at a local yummy establishment. Secretly Santa had been along and each and all received a beautifully hand-crafted gift for Christmas - such fun!
Soon after, the merry-makers were heard back at the Well drinking lashings of hot chocolate and sharing stories of times old and new!
DKW now retire for the season of Christmas, but will be back pretty soon in 2014, so watch this space to hear more of their merry mischief-making at H2O.

GFG enter the land of Narnia

As the Narnians of GFG entered the land of War Drobe having left Spare-Ooom, they recently settled down for the evening with not just one or two Narnia films, but yes, all three!
Much popcorn, pizza and pringles later and we had all met the Jadis the evil white witch, Prince Caspian, Eustice the ever friendly 'dragon' and of course Aslan the lion ('He's not safe, but He is good!')
This was GFG's much anticipated pre-Christmas, pre-party film night and the evening didn't disappoint. Coming soon is holiday time, however, GFG will be ready to play games, eat food and chat about God again in 2014. Happy Christmas from GFG!

Chocolate, Chocolate and How About Some More Chocolate?

If ever there was a reason to play bingo (what a lot of numbers are involved!), it has to have been when the Oban Chocolate Company decide to have such an event as part of the Oban Winter Festival. Combine the chocolate content with the opportunity to wear 'Christmas' jumpers and DeKanWiz, our 'mature' Thursday night group, are there.
The regular chocolate breaks were most welcome, and combined with delicious hot chocolate drinks, walking out the door at the end of the evening was a challenge.
A BIG thank you to all at Oban Chocolate Company for a fun-filled chocolate evening.

Hope 2 Oban - Rank Gap Placement

We are pleased to announce Joan Beaton’s successful application for a placement on the Rank Foundation GAP scheme, based with H2O. Joan will be starting as a GAPPER in January 2014, and will hit the ground running, attending the H2O annual retreat to Ardeonaig, the Rank GAP residential and Deep Impact, the Aviemore-based Christian Youth Workers' conference, all within the space of two weeks.
Within the placement period, it is hoped that Joan will spend some time with Oban-based youth work partners, Oban Youth Cafe and Atlantis Leisure Centre, as well as embark on a level 3 Diploma in Informal Education through George Williams College. So, a busy time all round for Miss Beaton, AND she has to listen to Ewen's bad jokes and Rachel's singing (which is lovely Rachel!)
