Lock-in number 9 (but hey, who's counting?)

Over 100 of Oban High School’s S1 pupils recently took part in the ninth Atlantis Leisure Lock-in run by Hope 2 Oban.
The ten-hour extravaganza began at 10pm on Friday 22nd March finishing at 8am the following morning.
Throughout the event, young folk had the opportunity to use the pool, gym, dance studio, roller disco and the superb Lost City soft-play. There was a BIG screen cinema running all night and a creative crafts area. The evening was launched with all taking part in a mass Zumba and drew to a close with breakfast rolls and games in the sports hall.
We would like to thank the Atlantis team, volunteers from Oban High School, Oban Youth Café, The SSC and the SRU as well as folks from the H2O volunteer team. Special thanks are due to local business for their much-appreciated support for the evening; Café Atlantis, Jacksons the Butcher, Breckenridge and Bookers.

A Busy Few Days for the Zoooomers!

Zoooomers! at GSC
Yes indeed, it has been a busy time.
As can be seen from the team shot above, twelve and a little one set off early one Saturday morning to Glasgow Science Centre, taking pictures of everything scientific from every angle. The Zooomers! discovered that in amongst all those experiments and demonstrations, opportunities for slightly different pics are everywhere. After a few hours and some lunch, there was time cross the city to explore The Burrell Collection, a slightly more subdued environment than GSC. Again, in amongst the Degas pastels and the ancient Egyptian figurines, many opportunities to click away. A splendid day all round, but then closely followed a few days later by what has become an annual photo competition against the members of Oban Camera Club.
Winners on the night
Zoooomers! are consistent, with another fine second place display against some very tough opposition. Best photo from H2O was won by Malcolm Allaway, the proud winner of gift tokens for the local Oban camera shop.
A big thank you to all at OCC for fun and fine hospitality.

24 Hours of Prayer with Hope 2 Oban

Prompted by the strong possibility of new developments in our youth work, the H2O team recently spent 24 hours (9pm Friday until 9 pm Saturday) with friends and supporters praying about the current work of Hope 2 Oban and pondering possibilities of encouraging others in their youth work wider afield in Argyll.
For the time together, The Well was transformed into a 3 dimensional version of our monthly prayer letter, Source, with areas to reflect on and pray into including our work in Oban High School and Glencruitten Hostel, our midweek groups GFG, Xplore and Zoooom!, partnership youth work and possible future developments including an Argyll-wide remit.
In addition to opportunities to pray and reflect alone, group prayer times took place at 9pm Friday and 7am, 10am, 2pm and 7pm on Saturday.
For now we shall be waiting to discover how prayers around our future work will be answered, and will keep folks informed when we feel we have some responses from God.
Many thanks go to all who spent time in prayer with us at The Well or elsewhere around the country.
